Our Story
Jorge and Carlo first met at the Escuela Libre de Música in Mexico City, where their shared musical journey began through intensive foundational training. From those early days, a strong artistic bond was formed—one rooted in curiosity, discipline, and a deep love for music. Life eventually carried them along different paths, each pursuing his own artistic and personal evolution.
Decades later, fate brought them back together in Montreal, where an unexpected reunion rekindled not only their friendship but also their musical connection. What emerged was more than a collaboration—it was a renewed artistic dialogue shaped by years of experience, memory, and a shared cultural heritage.
Today, Jorge and Carlo unite their visions in a heartfelt tribute to their formative institution and to the enduring richness of Mexican musical traditions. Their duo stands as a living bridge between past and present, carrying forward a passion that has only grown stronger with time.
Jorge Antonio Ancheyta
Biography
A graduate of the Bachelor of Music in Guitar Performance from the Escuela Superior de Musica INBAL (2019), he has dedicated his artistic career to promoting the works of contemporary Latin American composers, with a particular focus on music from Mexico and Central America.
Throughout his career, he has collaborated with internationally recognized musicians and composers, including maestro Hugo Rosales (Mexico) in the premiere of Jimaguas, a concerto for guitar and string orchestra. He has also worked alongside Ramsés Calderón (El Salvador), Julio Vázquez (Nicaragua), Carlos José Castro, and Carlos Pipo (Costa Rica), among others.
In 2021, he received an Honorable Mention at the Second International New Works Competition organized by the Guitar Association of Panama for his interpretation of Lapislazuli by Panamanian composer Emiliano Pardo Tristan.
His international performance career has led him to festivals and concert venues across Latin America and Europe, including the Corazón de América International Guitar Festival in Nicaragua and the Girona-Costa Brava Guitar Festival in Spain. He has also performed at Teatro Presidente in El Salvador and appeared in cultural institutions and universities throughout Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Canada, and Spain.
In 2023, he was awarded a scholarship from Ibermúsicas to pursue advanced musical studies at the Conservatori del Liceu in Barcelona, Spain.
He is currently pursuing graduate studies at the Schulich School of Music at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, supported by the David Moyse Guitar Scholarship, as well as the Professional Artists Abroad Scholarship awarded by SACPC and SECIHTI.
He is proudly sponsored by Guitarras Gálvez (El Salvador) and performs on a Gálvez concert guitar, model Don Manuel.
Carlo Joel Gazanini
Biography
Mexican-born, Montreal-based operatic singer and violinist, he began his musical journey in Miami under the guidance of Professor Gerardo Aguillón. From a very young age, he joined Mariachi Voces de América, performing alongside internationally renowned artists such as Jenny Rivera, Camila, and Alejandro Fernández.
Deeply rooted in both classical and popular traditions, he went on to perform in Mexico with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Tlaxcala, where he further immersed himself in the richness of the national repertoire, exploring works by Silvestre Revueltas, Arturo Márquez, and Manuel Ponce. A defining moment of this period was his participation in a tribute to the legendary José José.
Back in Montreal, he refined his violin studies with Helmut Lipsky and Claude Deltell before fully embracing classical voice training under Monique Pagé. It is during this time that he shaped a unique artistic identity, moving between French mélodie, German Lied, and the vibrant world of mariachi. He has performed with Mariachi Oro Blanco of Montreal and is currently a member of Mariachi Figueroa.
He furthered his vocal training at the Université de Montréal with John Fanning and Richard Margison, while also working with Lyne Fortin, Antonio Figueroa, Josué Céron, and Gino Quilico.
In 2021, he continued his artistic development at UQAM under the direction of Marie-Annick Béliveau. His artistic vision is driven by a clear mission: to build a bridge between operatic singing and Mexican musical traditions, bringing the expressive richness of Mexican music into the classical industry.
Our Goal
Our duo aims to showcase creativity and technique by fusing the essence of Mexican music with classical tradition. We want a warm, modern sound that blends intimate acoustic textures with clear virtuosity. We perform with emotional honesty and build a community that values authenticity, creativity, and shared experiences.
We believe in simple ideas, strong relationships, and lasting impact. What began as a passion project has evolved into something more. We’re proud of where we’ve been and even more excited for what’s ahead.
